Below is a list of some metal bands off the top of my head and when or if they jumped the shark. I know it's a tv term, but who the cares? I'll use it for music as well, because I'm The Zombieslayer and I could do whatever the fuck I want. If you'd like to comment, go to the bottom and click the link below. I'd love to hear what you have to say. I might even ask to use it if it's intelligent.
Judas Priest - Priest goes Pop with Turbo Iron Maiden - adds guitar synthesizers with Somewhere in Time Metallica - death of Cliff Burton. They steadily went downhill and their alternative album Load (of crap) was the nail in the coffin. Slayer - never jumped Nevermore - never jumped Cradle of Filth - some say jumped when they left Black Metal, but CoF was never a true Black Metal band. They've always been tongue-in-cheek. And they're still putting out good music. H.I.M - never jumped Dimmu Borgir - never jumped Ozzy Osbourne - death of Randy Rhoads. Not a full jump, it's just Ozzy's songs were never the same quality. Black Sabbath - was this ever a band after '82 or just a collection of musicians surrounding Iommi? Guns and Roses - when Izzy was on his way out. Use Your Illusions weren't that good. Motley Crue - not really a jump, but the Crue's best years are in the past. They're still cool, but Vince Neil's fat and half brain dead. Nightwish - we'll see if Tarja's departure is a jump. The thing is, I doubt it. Tuomas writes 95% of the music and 100% of the lyrics. Nightwish is his baby. Testament - Alex Skolnich leaving. I lost interest. Heavy Metal itself - NuMetal To comment, click this link.
